1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
A pinch of salt
8 tablespoons of butter
16 slices of thick sliced bread
6 tablespoons of icing sugar
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
- Use a medium bowl, and whisk together the eggs, milk, Kahlúa liqueur, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Meanwhile, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Soak the bread in the milk mixture and drain the excess back into the bowl.
- Working in parts, brown the soaked bread for 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Spread the browned bread with the remaining 6 tablespoons of butter, dust with icing sugar, and serve immediately.
Tia Maria, another dark coffee liqueur, is an excellent alternative to Kahlúa, so feel free to use this instead.
